In this engaging 4-week program, kids will explore the fundamentals of coding using Minecraft-themed challenges from Code.org. They will learn loops, conditionals, functions, and event handling while solving exciting in-game puzzles. Each session builds coding confidence, problem-solving skills, and creativity through interactive, hands-on activities. By the end of the course, students will design their own mini-game, applying everything they’ve learned. This program makes learning to code fun, easy, and accessible for young learners! 🚀🎮

Learn Coding Through Engaging Minecraft Adventures!


Program Overview

Duration: 4 Weeks
Sessions: 1 session per week (1 hour each)
Total Sessions: 4
Objective:
Students will learn fundamental coding concepts through interactive Minecraft-themed activities from Code.org’s Minecraft Hour of Code tutorials. Each session builds upon the last, equipping kids with problem-solving skills, creativity, and coding knowledge in a fun and engaging way.


Week 1: Voyage Aquatic: Introduction to Coding

🌊 Embark on an underwater adventure!

  • Activity: Students will explore an underwater world, using block-based coding to solve puzzles and navigate challenges. They will learn how to give step-by-step instructions to help their character complete tasks, introducing them to the fundamentals of programming.
  • Concepts Covered: Sequencing, loops, and debugging.

Week 2: Hero’s Journey: Functions & Problem-Solving

🛡️ Master advanced coding concepts and problem solving!

  • Activity: Students will learn how to use functions to structure their code efficiently and solve increasingly complex challenges. By breaking problems into smaller parts, they will understand the importance of reusability and modular coding.
  • Concepts Covered: Functions, modular programming, debugging.

Week 3: Minecraft Adventurer: Loops & Conditional Logic

⛏️ Use loops and conditions to navigate obstacles!

  • Activity: Students will program a character to complete different challenges while exploring the Minecraft world. They will use loops to repeat actions efficiently and apply conditionals to make the game respond dynamically to player actions.
  • Concepts Covered: Loops, conditional statements, debugging.

Week 4: Minecraft Designer: Creative Project & Showcase

🎮 Build your own Minecraft mini-game!

  • Activity: Students will apply all the concepts learned by designing a custom Minecraft mini-game. They will use loops, conditionals, events, and functions to create their unique project and present it to the class.
  • Concepts Covered: Game design, logic flow, creativity, and problem-solving.

This 4-week, 1-hour-per-week program introduces students to the basics of coding in a fun, engaging way while building problem-solving skills through Minecraft!
