Program Overview

Duration: 4 Weeks
Sessions: 1 session per week (1 hour each)
Total Sessions: 4
Objective:
The Xploris Art & Creativity Program introduces young learners (ages 5 to 8) to digital art and design through an interactive and engaging platform. Using block-based coding (Blockly/Scratch) and the Xploris device, kids will explore pixel art, animation, and creative expression while developing problem-solving and computational thinking skills. Through hands-on activities, they will design colorful patterns, create simple animations, and experiment with light and motion to bring their artistic ideas to life. This program fosters creativity, imagination, and early tech literacy, making learning fun and engaging for young minds. 🎨✨

Week 1: Introduction to Pixel Art & Colors

📌 Objective: Understand basic digital art concepts and create simple pixel drawings.

🔹 Topics Covered:

    • Introduction to Xploris device and pixel-based design
    • Exploring colors, shapes, and patterns
    • Using Blockly/Scratch to code basic pixel art
    • Activity: Create a smiley face, heart, or favorite animal in pixel art.

Week 2: Patterns & Interactive Color Changing Designs

📌 Objective: Learn how to create repeating patterns and color-changing animations.

🔹 Topics Covered:

    • Understanding loops & repetition in coding
    • Designing patterns and color transitions
    • Using motion sensors to trigger color changes
    • Activity: Create a color-changing rainbow or animated patterns.

Week 3: Simple Animations & Light Effects

📌 Objective: Use coding to create moving pixel art and light-based effects.

🔹 Topics Covered:

    • Introduction to frame-based animation
    • Using Blockly/Scratch to animate pixel characters
    • Adding light and motion effects using Xploris sensors
    • Activity: Animate a jumping ball, blinking star, or dancing character.

Week 4: Creative Project – Bringing Art to Life!

📌 Objective: Apply all skills learned to design a final creative project.

🔹 Topics Covered:

    • Combining pixel art, patterns, and animations
    • Customizing backgrounds and interactive elements
    • Using real-time motion and light effects
    • Final Project: Kids create their own digital artwork or short pixel animation to showcase their creativity.

Final Outcome:

By the end of this program, kids will:

    • Understand pixel art and digital design
    • Use block-based coding to create interactive art
    • Build simple animations and light effects
    • Develop creativity, problem-solving, and early coding skills
