WRO Toronto Competition—Information for Parents
Official Category: WRO (Ages 10–15)
This is the main competition our students will participate in.

Team Size: 2–3 students per team (WRO requirement)

Robot: LEGO SPIKE Prime or any other materials

Task: Build and program a robot to complete missions on a challenge mat

Judging Areas: Robot performance, design, coding, strategy, teamwork
Our team will officially register in this category for the May 9th WRO Toronto event.
Additional Practice Challenges
These challenges help prepare the team for competition. They are optional and used mainly for training.
Saving Merodian

A practice mission designed to improve field strategy and precision.

Zip Line

Students build a robot that travels along a zip line.

Helps improve control, balance, and sensor use.

Team size: 2–3 students.
Toggle-Sumo

A mini robot-vs-robot challenge (Sumo style).

Focuses on power, strategy, and autonomous movement.

Team size: 2–3 students.
These practice missions strengthen building and coding skills but are not part of the official WRO global competition.

World Robotics Olympiad (WRO)
The World Robotics Olympiad (WRO) is an exciting global competition that brings together young minds from across the world to engage in robotics, coding, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities. The WRO encourages innovation, creativity, and teamwork as students solve real-world challenges using robotics.
About WRO
- Founded: 2004
- Age Groups: Open to participants aged 6-25 years in various categories.
- Mission: To inspire young people to develop their creativity, design, and problem-solving skills through engaging robotics challenges.
- Reach: More than 85 countries participate annually.
How It Works
Participants work in teams to build, code, and program robots that perform specific tasks or solve challenges aligned with the yearly theme. Each year introduces a unique topic that focuses on global challenges, such as renewable energy, health, or smart cities.
Competition Categories
- Regular Category: Teams build and program autonomous robots to complete missions.
- Open Category: Teams develop innovative projects using robotics to address the yearly theme.
- Future Engineers: Focuses on advanced robotics engineering and innovation.
- WRO Football: A fun and dynamic category where robots play soccer!

STEMOTICS is a specialized robotics center in Cambridge, Ontario. It aims to provide children and youngsters with the right skills to expedite their learning, especially in STEM-related fields, and express their creativity. STEMOTICS is about helping children exploring their potentials and developing their life skills.
